Hakomi
somatic therapy is a form of somatic psychotherapy that stems from Eastern
philosophy. It was developed in the 1970’s, and its core principles include
mindfulness, body-mind connection, unity, and truth. Hakomi therapy promotes
healing experiences through memory, mindfulness, and beliefs. Steven Marshank
studied Hakomi somatic therapy with Ron Kurtz, who taught workshops and
trainings around the United States and internationally. There is an Institute
in Boulder, CO where Steven Marshank lived before Ashland.
In his
three year course, Steven Marshank learned Ron Kurtz’s Hakomi Method, which
helps people connect to their inner thoughts and lead more mindful lives. The
classes included meditation, bodywork, and other holistic therapy methods.
Steven Marshank learned how to integrate the Hakomi method into the business
environment, and he learned how to adapt the therapy for different purposes
like relaxation, pain management, and trauma recovery. He successful completed
the program and uses Hakomi Somatic Method with his business clients. Steven
Marshank continues to study new types of technologies that inform his business.
